Today we went to a wedding. Jennifer and Eric, friends of ours decided to get married outside, above the Arctic Circle in January! These guys are brave!

They are actually an intriguing couple-adventuresome to say the least. This year they attempted the Northwest Passage in a sailboat with Norwegian friends of theirs. This is something that only a handful of people have ever done and they have plenty of stories to tell of their adventure.

So when Jenn and Eric told us they were having an outside wedding in January – up here above the Arctic Circle – it didn’t really surprise us. The ceremony actually went quite well. Yes, it was a little chilly, but hey, we are in the north! Here is a picture of Jenn and Eric dressed in their traditional northern garb (the jackets were made by Jenn actually) getting ready to be married.

The reception was held at the Lion’s Den which is a Lions Club. There was a mixture of northern and southern foods including Muskox meatballs, Arctic Char and dry meat. You may recall me trying dry meat on my trip to Sachs Harbour. It was good to taste it again and this time Lorie had the opportunity to taste it too. It wasn’t so much of a hit with her!

We had lots of fun at the reception. It was neat to hear all of the various stories and adventures Jenn and Eric have been on. The friends and family did a good job recounting the stories, and it was great entertainment.

Cheers!
